 Sporting Success in Table Tennis!

Congratulations to our ASC table tennis team on their outstanding victory at the CHS NW Gala Day last Friday! Despite fierce competition from schools like Farrer and Inverell, our team emerged as clear champions.

For the past ten years, ASC has proudly hosted the Table Tennis Gala Day, welcoming all NW regional state schools. This year, schools travelled from as far as Gunnedah to compete in five thrilling rounds, with a total of 197 intense games played. The standard of play was the highest we’ve seen, featuring many nail-biting matches – 59 games went to deuce (10:10) or ended 11:9 or 11:8, and another 23 games were decided at 11:7. It was truly a fantastic day of sport!

Our ASC team was undefeated, earning us a coveted spot at the State Finals in Sydney on June 29th as one of the ten regional champions.

Huge shoutout to our four first-choice players, all Year 11:

Tommy (Looper) Nguyen

Dan (the Quiet Assassin) Donaldson

Luke (Stonewall) Rees

Caleb (Flash) Flanagan

These dedicated students have been training about three times a week for the past year, showcasing impressive skill. Any staff member feeling confident in their ping pong abilities is invited to the Den to try their luck against the A-Team!

Building for the future, we also had four squad players rotate in during the Gala Day:

Zamen Hassany (Year 7)

Harry Strijland (Year 9)

Ovindu Chandrasena (Year 9)

Ethan Rees (Year 11)

Each played and won their matches, helping ASC maintain a perfect 100% record for the day.

Well done to all our players and thank you to everyone who supported us. Let’s keep the momentum going toward the State Finals!
