Biological Science Curriculum
It's been an exciting start to Term 4 with our students across Prep to Six enthusiastically exploring the world of living things through the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Biological Science curriculum.
The students in Prep, One and Two are investigating how plants and animals can be grouped based on their observable features and are examining how living things meet their needs in the environments where they live. They will be exploring the unique features of plants and animals and explaining how these features help them survive and thrive.
Our Prep students have started their Science learning through an exciting visit to the Animal Land Farm in Diggers Rest. During their visit, they observed a variety of animals up close, identified their features and discussed how different animals need food, water and shelter. This real-world experience helped students make meaningful connections between animal characteristics and their survival needs.
The Year 1 and 2 students had an opportunity to be immersed in their learning with a visit to the SEA LIFE Aquarium today! Students were given opportunities to observe a diverse range of marine animals and investigate the special adaptations that help sea creatures survive in aquatic environments. They were able to learn about different body coverings, fins, gills and camouflage features that enable animals to move, breathe, find food and live in their habitats.
We can not wait to share more exciting learning experiences with you throughout the term as the students deepen their understanding of the Biological Science curriculum.
