Principal's Message

Welcome back to Term 4! We hope you had the opportunity to rest, recharge and reset over the holidays in preparation for a busy and exciting final term. We have certainly hit the ground running, with students already enjoying a range of learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
The week began with our Prep students heading off on their very first school excursion to Animal Land Children's Farm in Diggers Rest. They enjoyed a wonderful day riding ponies, milking cows, patting rabbits and going for a tractor ride. I had the pleasure of accompanying them and was incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves throughout the day. They were fantastic role models for our school and embraced every experience with enthusiasm and curiosity.
On Tuesday, our basketball team demonstrated teamwork and resilience. While the results did not fall our way, the students never stopped encouraging one another and played every game with a positive attitude. On Wednesday, our tennis team faced some strong competition. Nick reported that our students displayed great sportsmanship, represented the school proudly and never gave up. Yesterday, our Year 1/2 students enjoyed their excursion to Melbourne Aquarium, with many students especially excited about seeing the sharks and stingrays. Our Year 5/6 cricket team also had a successful day, showcasing excellent teamwork and skill.
Last night, I counted the remaining days of the school year and was surprised to discover that there are only 42 school days left. That means 42 days of learning, 42 days of growth, 42 days to challenge ourselves and 42 days to make the most of every opportunity that comes our way. As we know, the final term always seems to fly by.
There are many exciting learning opportunities, excursions, celebrations and events still to come before the end of the year. We encourage all students to continue giving their best effort each day, embracing challenges and making the most of every learning opportunity. When students apply themselves, persevere through difficulties and support one another, great things can be achieved.
A reminder that all students are expected to be in full summer uniform, including their school hat, from next week. With the weather forecast looking to be in the mid - 20s, hats will be essential during outdoor play and learning times.
Wearing the correct uniform is an important way for students to represent our school with pride and demonstrate a sense of belonging to our community. Teachers will be reminding students of our uniform expectations, and we would greatly appreciate your support in ensuring your child comes to school each day wearing the correct uniform. Working together helps us maintain the high standards we have for all students at St Martin de Porres. Please remember to label your child's uniform and check the lost property for any missing items.
