Wellbeing

At SFS, our PBL (Positive Behaviours for Learning) school wide expectations are:
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
We have a whole school social skills lesson where we explicitly teach an expected behaviour from our Behaviour Expectation matrix.
This week we have focused on RESPECT: Care for Self with a particular focus on the toilets at school. The teachers discussed the importance of personal hygiene and making sure that we keep shared space, like the toilets clean. We taught the children the importance of speaking up if they see something in the toilets that needs fixing or cleaning.
Here are some of our lucky PBL raffle winners from last week who have been demonstrating
expected school behaviours, congratulations!!
Ride2School: Keep active these school holidays!
As the winter chill defrosts and the weather gets warmer - now is the perfect time to learn how to ride. Riding a bike early can boost physical activity, lead to greater independence and most importantly, it's fun!
The Bicycle Network has a great Ride2school program and resources for parents to use to help teach your children how to ride a bike.
For more information and resources to help parents teach their children how to ride click here.
Here are some more tips for parents to get involved and help your children be more active from Ride2school. Make the most of the Spring sunshine in the holidays and get active together!
Online Safety
With the school holidays and children at home, this can be a time that children are spending a lot of time on devices or online. It is important that we have regular conversations with children about their safety online and parents are aware of what their children are seeing online.
At school we teach the strategy of STOP, BLOCK, TELL.
Our school makes sure that we are safe when we are online.
We know that when we feel unsafe online we need to:
STOP what we are doing
BLOCK the unsafe content and
TELL a trusted adult.
The eSafety Commissioner website has some helpful resources for parents to help with cyber safety. You will find a link to the website here.
I am available to speak with parents about any wellbeing concerns for their child or if you would like some more information about how the school can support your child or if you need help with referral pathways to external services.
You can speak to me at school (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday), or via email rlenko@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe Term 3 holiday back and I look forward to seeing everyone in term 4.
