Dear Families,

Another wonderful week in Foundation. A weekly highlight for the Foundation students is always going to the library. The children love listening to Prem read stories and pursuing the rich literature available to borrow. Please remember to return any library books you have at home to the library, there are a lot of books that haven’t been brought back and we’d like to reunite with the library so other children can enjoy them. Our library day is always Thursday, so please bring your library book and bag to school then. As always, thank you for your support. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums, grandmothers, aunties and significant women in your lives. We’ll see you in Week 4!

Year 1

Hey Families, happy Week 3!

It was so lovely chatting with families at the InitiaLit evening and having the chance to further discuss the program and answer any questions you had.

Next week, as part of our Family Week celebrations, families are invited into the classroom on Monday after lunch to enjoy an activity with the class. Everyone is welcome and we would love to see you there.

I also wanted to say a special thank you to all the mums, mother figures, aunties, and parents who carry both roles in their household. You are amazing in all that you do: packing lunch boxes, organising uniforms, managing busy days and adding a little sparkle along the way. Wishing you all a wonderful Mother’s Day. Please enjoy these heartwarming smiles below and have a cosy weekend.

Year 2

Hello Families,

What an awesome group of families we have! We can't thank you all enough for your super support. This past week, we presented an information night for our Literacy program and what a great turn out, thank you! Next week, two awesome events planned...

Monday - we invite families to come in to the classroom 2.20 - 3.20pm . We will do a crafty activity followed by mini-movie time (and popcorn!) Please bring in a pillow and blanket to lie down on!

Tuesday - we will go on our first excursion to the CERES environment community park.

This Sunday, we acknowledge our mums, committed, fabulous, hard working, endless support and infinate love to all those around them. Have a fun filled weekend celebrating your mums and or grandmothers, sisters, aunt in your families. Can you guess who these talented artists are?

Year 3/4AL & Year 3/4T

Hello families,

Throughout this week, students have been working with Fractions, more specifically improper fractions and mixed numerals. This can often be a challenging concept. It has been wonderful to hear the 'aha moment' for many as they make the connection between the two and show their new understanding.

In Religious Education, we have been researching the 7 Sacraments. Along with their partner, students have started creating a poster and will presenti their findings to the class.

We wish all the Mum's a relaxing and special Mother's day on Sunday. We hope you are spoilt and enjoy your special day.

Year 5/6 J

Throughout this year in 5/6 J, students have taken part in 'Writer's Notebook'. This gives students the platform to write about topics, ideas, hobbies and anything else they find interesting in a wide variety of genres. Students plan their writing, unpack their 'seed' (idea) and select a genre of writing before they draft, conference with a teacher and publish their piece. Below are some comments of what 5/6 J love about Writer's Notebook:

Olivia- I get to tell what I do on the holidays

Samantha- You get to research and learn new stuff about topics you didn't know about

Nirav- It is a great way to express your creativity while learning

Natalie- You can express your thoughts and feelings by writing down different pieces

Year 5/6 M

Chloe: ‘WAVES’ is about immigrants who travel across the sea to reach places like Australia to make a better life for themselves. In each story it tells us how people came from different countries at different times and in a different type of boat.

Amy: We are reading the book’WAVES’ during our Reading time. During each lesson, we learn new words like churn, drench and wail.

Callix: ‘WAVES’ is a really interesting book. I find it amazing how the author of ‘WAVES’ was able to fit so many facts along with interesting stories in the book.

Shamus: I love how the book ‘WAVES’ tells the history of refugees who came across the dangerous and choppy sea to live in far, far away Australia, to have a better and healthier life.

Viraj: ‘WAVES’ is a book about people moving to Australia hoping for a better life. It starts with the story of Anak more than 50,000 years ago. He came on a raft and settled in New Guinea with his family. I really enjoy the stories in this book because they are all short stories but they are all so different

Layla: ‘WAVES’ is a wonderful book. It;s all about different people coming to Australia. Each journey was very tricky and dangerous and many people didn’t make it to Australia because of illnesses. As time passes, the boats develop and become safer for the people to travel in.

Aisha: ‘WAVES’ is a good book to read because it tells the story of how different people came from across the sea to another country. I really am enjoying the book.
