Boys Basketball

As the winter basketball season begins, teams prepare and start getting back into the groove of basketball.

The first game for the U12 boys was a close College v College tussle game between the Barking Owls and the Boobook Owls; ultimately, the Barking Owls won 10-7.

We had another rivalry matchup in the U16S boys, the Barking Owls 39, defeated the Barn Owls 34, in a close game that came down to the last minute. The match was full of momentum shifts and clutch baskets, with Angus Smith as the standout, scoring 18 points.

In Division 4, our only men’s team had a four-point victory over the Crocodiles 31-27. The highlight of the game was the courageous effort from the three fill-ins from the U16S who put their hand up to help fill the team and pushed them to deliver the win.

In other College basketball news, the 3x3 basketball tournament has been announced and will be played during Wellness Week over multiple lunch times. This will allow our College talent to shine, and we can't wait to see the Sports Centre full of cheering spectators.

Hockey

Div 1 Women’s Hockey

It was an exciting game for our girls as we faced Dunkeld Blue in a Grand Final rematch, coming out on top, winning 4-2, moving us up to first on the ladder.

We started the game against Dunkeld strongly, with Claudia Cochran making great moves inside the circle, securing our first goal. As a versatile player, Jess Templeton moved the ball downfield as a wing and helped stop it from entering our defensive end.

Ball movement remained steady throughout the game, and we hope to take this into next week’s game against Coleraine.

Men’s Hockey

The Div 1 Men’s played a competitive game against the Bulls and remained strong for most of the game, with Reuben Hays giving the team an early lead. The team was able to hold the score line steady 1-1 at the third quarter time.

The Bulls came out strong for the 4th quarter, shutting down the College attacking line. College went down 1-3 in the end. The team continues to show development of their game.

We wish all students and staff heading to Country Week this weekend all the very best.
