SSV: Year 8 Girls Netball
On Friday 5 June, the Year 8 Girls Netball team competed in the Hobsons Bay Division tournament, finishing with three wins and two losses.
A highlight of the day was a thrilling one-goal victory against Bayside Williamstown. Despite being a team made up largely of goalers and defenders, the girls showed fantastic teamwork and adaptability by sharing the Centre position throughout the tournament.
Congratulations to the team on their effort, teamwork, and positive spirit!
SSV: Badminton YR 7-12
It was Altona College's first time in a long time competing at a Hobsons Bay Division Badminton Tournament. All our players enjoyed participating and learning the game of badminton. Although we did not place in any of the tournaments, our students showed a wonderful attitude during competition. Thank you Coach Thorne for the training during recess and lunch. With a little bit of practice, we cannot wait to see the progress we make in 2027!!!
SSV: HBD Cross Country YR 7-12
It was pretty good weather for our runners during the Hobsons Bay Division Cross Country Tournament. Our school was able to field at least one runner in each age bracket of the competition. Furthermore, we were able to qualify in each age level for the Western Metropolitan Region Tournament coming up later this month. A special thank you to Sam Lewis who guided Sarah Romanowska during her run who was also one of our students that advanced to the next round. Thank you Coach Hodgart for supporting our students. Good luck runners!!!
SSV: HBD Netball YR 7 and Intermediate Girls
Fantastic effort to our Year 7, 9 and 10 Girls who ventured off to Altona Stadium to compete in the in their netball tournaments. For our younger students, this would be the first time they would compete in a high school tournament. We were able to send 2 Year 7 teams with the amount of interest and the proved worthy of the task. Although we were unable to place in these tournaments, our girls continued to show our Altona College fighting spirit. Thank you Coach Brooke and Coach Ciantar for the training sessions after school and Bec for helping with team supervision. Well done team!!!
SSV: HBD AFL YR7 and Senior Boys
Great effort to all the boys who took part in these tournaments. Although we did not place in these events, the grit and determination that our boys showed in every match showed the other schools our fighting spirit. We look forward to what you can do in 2027!!!
SSV: HBD AFL Intermediate (YR 8-10) Boys
Congratulations to boys in Year 8, 9 and 10 who competed in the Hobsons Bay Division Intermediate Football Tournament. They would beat all the teams in this tournament and receive Altona College's first Premiers ever. The boys would face some tough competition in teams like Williamstown and Bayside, and overcome the odds and bring home a championships for our school. We look forward to your efforts in the next round at the Western Metropolitan Region Tournament. Thank you Coach Ball for supporting our Footy teams. Good luck team in the next round!!!
SSV: STATE Volleyball Senior Boys
Altona College's Volleyball Team would compete against the top 7 teams in the state of Victoria. The boys started the day undefeated beating all 3 teams in their pool going into the Semi-finals. However, they would lose the match to a golden point (39-40) against Eltham High School and placing 3rd overall. It was not the result we were hoping for, but what a fantastic School Sport Victoria Volleyball season. A big thank you to parents/guardians for getting the boys to the Volleyball Centre in Dandenong. Also, big thank you to Coach Kid from VFUM, for helping out with the coaching. Thank you Coach Allan and Coach Rowe for the morning and after school training sessions. Fingers cross for 2027 and finishing even better!!!
VV: Schools Cup YR 9 Boys Division 1
Congratulations to our boys and girls who competed in this 3-day event. The team would go 5-1 in pool play only losing to Waverley, 2 sets to 1. However in the Grand-finals, Altona College would reverse their fortunes and beat the same Waverley team in the same fashion, 2 sets to 1, earning the Year 9 Boys Division 1 Championship Banner and gold medals. Again, a big thank you to parents/guardians who drove players to and from Dandenong. Thank you to Coach Nielsen and Coach Cassar (former students) for helping with strategy and tactics. Thank you again Coach Allan and Coach Rowe for morning and after school training. We cannot wait for the next accomplishments you make coming up in the near future!
SSV: HBD Soccer YR 7-12 Boys
Great effort to all our Year 7-12 Boys who participated in the Hobsons Bay Division Tournaments. Although we did not place, our boys fought hard every minute of every match and competed against the other schools. Thank Coach Meletis for the training sessions before school, recess and lunch. We will be back stronger and better in 2027!!!
SSV: HBD Soccer YR 8 Girls
Congratulations to our girls who competed in the Hobsons Bay Division Year 8 Girls Soccer Tournament. The girls would go undefeated against all teams they faced earning themselves a Premiership and the opportunity to compete at the Western Metropolitan Region Tournament. With a stunning defence and beautiful offence, the girls proved not only did they belong in the tournament but that they were the champions of tournament. Thank you, Coach Thorne, for supporting our girls. Go get them in the next round!!!
