From the Principal

VALE BEN XU
This week we received the very sad news that former POPS student Ben Xu has passed away.
Ben attended Park Orchards Primary School from 2019- 2025, and many staff remember him with great affection.
He was a funny, energetic and cheerful student who had a wonderful ability to make those around him laugh. We have many fond memories of Ben and the joy and laughter he brought to his classmates and staff!
Ben was a talented person: he was an accomplished pianist, artist and mathematician. In his year 6 grad book his favourite memory of POPS was the Canberra camp because he got to go to Parliament House and lots of fun places like Questacon.
"I have been at POPS since Foundation. I have greatly enjoyed the time I spent in this school, and I have made a lot of friends. I've learnt a great amount of subjects like Science, Maths and performing arts. My biggest achievement was when I got my leadership role in the Library Team and I am looking forward to making new friends in my high school" - Ben X.
Our staff and community are deeply saddened by Ben’s passing. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family Min, Lizhong, and his older brother Ian. We hold them in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Congratulations to Katarina R (4C), our Aussie of the Month for April. Katarina is a thoughtful and dedicated student who always gives her best effort, supports her classmates, and contributes positively to our school community.
Dates for Diary
A quick reminder that Tuesday June 9 is a student free day. Our teachers will be using this time for their Professional Practice Day, focusing on assessment and reporting.
Thursday June 25, school dismissal will be at 1 pm to enable Learning Conferences.

FOUNDATION 2027 ENROLMENT
We are beginning to receive many enrolment applications for 2027, and interest in our school continues to grow.
If your child is starting Foundation (Prep) in 2027, could you please submit your enrolment application.
