Senior Boys Basketball

On Tuesday the 29th of July, our Senior Boys Basketball team headed to Ballarat to compete in the Eureka Division tournament.

Our first game was against a tough Phoenix side, who had 10 players on the bench to pick from. After a slow start, we came storming home. Despite some strong boards by Zac Spicer and Nic Stares driving hard in the paint, we narrowly went down 14-16.

Next, we played against a rough and tough Daylesford side. Tristian Drinkwater put on a passing clinic, while Ben Grant was deadly under the ring. We ran away with a 22-12 victory.

Our third game was against Woodman’s Hill. Again, a slow start gave us a challenge to chase down. Josh Fraser led our charge home with Seth Arvidson in support. But it was too little too late, and we went down 16-20.

Our one victory put us in a final against Mount Rowan, the tallest opposition so far. Down to one player on the bench, the instructions were clear… have fun! Rylee Jacka-Mulgrew and Jet Kerr knocked down some deep 3 pointers, while our defence dropped, allowing the opposition to put on a dunking clinic. We lost 17-28.

A big thankyou to Mr Webb for driving the bus and Mr Sev for coaching us. It was a fun, challenging and overall successful day!

State Level Achievement for Billy

On July 24th, BSC student Billy Welsh travelled to the Yarra Valley Racing Club to compete in the SSV State Cross Country. His hard work resulted in a personal best time of 18 mins, 11.34 seconds (a reduction of 30 seconds on his previous PB) and saw him finish in a commendable 21st place.

Congratulations, Billy, on such an outstanding achievement and for representing the school at such a high standard.
