Senior Formal

On Friday the 1st of August, our Year 10, 11 and 12 students were brought together for an event that Beaufort Secondary College has not seen for years- a Senior School Formal. When proposed by students, the Leadership Team listened, proceeding to voice their concerns by putting together a proposal for staff, seeking their approval to get the ball moving.
With the help of our incredible staff and Leadership Team, Lily and I organized a fun-filled evening which boasted a live DJ and lots of laughter, dancing and photos, shared over some light nibbles.
From the moment people arrived, the energy was electric. Everyone looked incredible, swapping uniforms for dresses and suits. It’s not often students can let their hair down (literally) and have a phone in their hand, so everyone was sure to make the most of the opportunity.
The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, as friends greeted each other, taking countless photos in front of our decorated School Arch, which served as our photo wall. The photo opportunities were endless, forever capturing memories of the special night.
Once the music started, the dance floor quickly became the heart of the event. Whether it was singing along to the classics or showing off our best moves to the latest hits, the room was full of smiles and laughter. The food and drinks gave us the perfect chance to recharge and chat before heading back to the dance floor for another round.
Bringing all three senior year levels together made the night even more special. Year 10s, 11s, and 12s mixed effortlessly, sharing in the fun and making connections that rarely occur during a regular school day. Even the staff in attendance melded effortlessly into the group, making them feel just like our peers, rather than our teachers. The teachers definitely brought the moves, even starting a big train that everyone followed along with. It was such a rare and valuable opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate as one big group.
Of course, none of it would have been possible without the huge amount of behind-the-scenes work. During Period 5 and 6 on the day, a dedicated group of roughly 10 students, alongside several staff members, rushed around to decorate the space, set up lighting and add all the small touches that made the night so beautiful. We’re so grateful for their energy and creativity.
A massive thank you goes out to everyone involved in making the night happen; from those who helped plan and decorate, to the staff who gave up their time to support the event, and of course, to everyone who attended and made it so much fun. Seeing everyone smiling, dancing and having fun made all the planning worth it and it was so rewarding watching all our senior students come together for such a special night.
