Students As Authors Writing Competition Winners

It is with great pleasure that we share the winners of this year’s Students As Authors Writing Competition. With 159 entries this year, competition was high! A huge thanks to this year’s judge, John O’Connor. Thanks to all the students who entered their work, and to all the staff in schools who assisted them.

Congratulations to the winners who will now work with author, Trish Donald, to produce an illustrated ebook! You can find all the winning entries along with commended entries on the competition website.

Census - 1st August

The Finance team is changing the Census process this year. All data, staff & students will be extracted from the “sources of truth” being the payroll system & Compass on the Census date.

What do schools need to do?

Ensure that all student data in Compass is complete and accurate by close of business Thursday 31st July.

If you have new visa students or a visa question please contact Linda Page.

What you DON’T need to do

Schools do not have to produce any Census reports nor obtain Principals signature.

How will we know what Finance is submitting?

On Tuesday 5th August Principals will receive a Census report from the Finance team that will be the information to be submitted to the Government. No need to respond unless there is a material error in the data.

Special Circumstances

An email regarding special circumstances applications was sent to Principals and all admin staff on 3rd July. Please review this information and act accordingly.

If you require clarification about the new Census process, please contact either Fiona McCann or Helen Bentham.

Synthetic Turf

The NSW Government has released new guidelines for the use and management of synthetic turf in Educational Facilities. The Government has also changed the planning requirements for installation of synthetic turf in education facilities to require an environmental assessment and development consent.

If a school is considering replacing or adding synthetic turf, please contact Facilities prior to any other steps in the process.
