Message from the Director of Schools

Regina Menz

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome back to Term 3!

I hope you all had a restful and restorative break and are excited to be back. As we commence the term, it is important to be reminded of our mission and vision, underpinned by our Catholic Principles and Values. We are working towards a hope filled future for each and every young person in our schools.

It was great to see strong teams in action yesterday as we joined together to begin our curriculum staff development day. As we prayed to commence the day, we were reminded that our work is in both our action and our reflection. With this in mind, we reflect on some of our evidence-based diocesan wins. At the end of term two, we have seen 62% of our primary students and 47% of our secondary students attending school 90% or more of the time. 28% of K-2 learners and 51% of K-6 learners are already at their learning bench mark for the end of this year. Reflecting on these successes can help us to keep this fantastic momentum rolling into this semester.

Earlier this month, Pope Leo XIV said “We need laborers who are eager to work in the mission field, loving disciples who bear witness to the Kingdom of God in all places”. Each and every one of you are in the field acting on your call to God’s mission in our schools, and the data support this. This data is a testament to our learning environments in which our young people feel safe, valued, and respected to be learners to their best ability.

Thank you all for the work you do each and every day to support our Catholic Professional Learning Community. Have a great start to term 3!
