Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal

As we embrace the winter season, our school community is coming together to support those in need through two meaningful initiatives led by our Faith and Mission Leaders.

Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal: Toiletries Drive

Our Mini Vinnies are launching a Winter Appeal, collecting essential toiletries to assist

individuals in our local community who are facing hardships. Items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deodorant are greatly appreciated. Your generous donations will be distributed to those in need through the St Vincent de Paul Society, providing comfort and support during the colder months.

Toiletry donations will be collected from 21st July to the 8th August and can be place at the front of

PJ Day Fundraiser: Gift a Night Off the Streets

Thank you for your incredible generosity in supporting the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Together, we raised nearly $740, which will purchase much-needed gift‑a‑night-off‑the‑streets vouchers—offering warmth and dignity to those facing hardship this winter.

This achievement is a true reflection of our caring spirit and collective effort. Every student, family, and staff member who contributed has made a real difference. It’s inspiring to see our community unite in kindness at a time when it matters most.

Because of your compassion, someone in need will now have a safe night under a roof, a hot meal, and a renewed sense of hope. That’s not just an amount raised—it’s a direct impact on a life.

Sacrament of Confirmation:

Next Saturday, 16th August, our Year 6 students will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. This special celebration marks the final step in their journey of initiation into the Catholic Church.

Confirmation completes Baptism by strengthening the gifts received through the Holy Spirit. Through the laying of the hands and an anointing with sacred chrism, each student receives a spiritual seal that empowers them to live their faith with courage and purpose.

Mary MacKillop Feast Day

This coming Friday, 8th August, we joyfully honour the Feast Day of Saint Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first canonised saint. Born in Melbourne on 15 January 1842 and passing into eternal life on 8th August 1909, her feast day marks not only the anniversary of her death but her enduring legacy of faith, courage, and compassion.

A Life Dedicated to Education and Justice

Mary MacKillop co‑founded the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart (the Josephites) in Penola, South Australia, in 1866 alongside Father Julian Tenison Woods. Their mission focused on establishing free schools for the rural poor, determined that every child—regardless of background—deserved access to education.

She once wrote, “Never see a need without doing something about it.” This phrase still resonates today as a call to social justice, advocacy, and community action.

Why We Celebrate Mary’s Feast Day

Each year on August 8th, Catholics around Australia—including our own school—come together to reflect on Mary MacKillop’s life of service, perseverance, and compassion. It’s a day to be inspired by her example: to stand up for the vulnerable, to show faith in action, and to uplift others through education and kindness.

How are we celebrating

On Friday, we will be having:

  • a Prep to Year 3 Liturgy at 10:15am in our Sacred Space
  • a Year 4 to Year 6 Mass at 12:00pm led by Father Anh in our Sacred Space

Families are welcome to join us at these celebrations!
