Catholic Schools Week 2024

This year, Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated in deaneries with Masses in each deanery. The Masses will be at 11am with a light lunch to follow. The Masses will be help on the following dates:

Southern Deanery

Mary Help of Christians Tamworth on the 28th May

Western Deanery

St Philomena's Moree on the 29th May

Northern Deanery

De La Salle Chapel Armidale 30th of May

Principals and RECs will receive a form to register their school’s attendance at their deanery mass shortly. Promotional materials were sent earlier today. 

The deanery breakdowns for your information are listed below.

Southern Deanery:

Tamworth, Quirindi, Manilla, Barraba

Northern Deanery:

Armidale, Uralla, Walcha, Guyra, Glen Innes, Tenterfield, Inverell

Western Deanery:

Moree, Mungindi, Gunnedah, Warialda, Narrabri, Boggabri, Wee Waa, Walgett

Year 6 Religion Practice Test

All RECs should have received links and instructions via an email on Fri 26th April for providing your Year 6 students access to the 2024 Year 6 RE Practice Test.

All schools must administer the test in the 9-day testing period - Monday 29th April to Thursday 9th May 3 pm.

FAQs: Why do we sign ourselves before the Gospel?

The Church distinguishes between the ‘large’ sign of the cross (made with the right hand outstretched on the forehead, chest, and shoulders) and the ‘small’ sign of the cross (made with the thumb on the forehead, mouth, and chest). By performing this latter action just prior to the reading of the Gospel, we are asking God’s blessing upon our thoughts, words, and desires. Next time you make this sign, be aware that you are praying to open yourself to God’s Word.
