Eclipse House News

As always, it has been another exciting and busy term in Eclipse House. Term Three is always packed with activity as the winter sporting season comes to an end, our Year Twelve students begin to wind down, and we learn which Year Eleven students have been awarded leadership positions for the following year.

A huge congratulations must go to Matt Cant, who was appointed Boarding Captain for 2027; Riley Jenkins, who was named Wilson House Captain; Fletcher Patterson, who was appointed Camfield House Captain; and Craig Weich, who was selected as one of the School Captains. This is an outstanding achievement for these four young men and a testament to the leadership qualities they have demonstrated throughout their time in Eclipse House and within the school.

There were also plenty of highlights from the winter sports awards. Congratulations to Joe Rumble, Stew Eyres, Corinthian Calwyn, Zane Cairns, Matt Cant, Henry Smith and Harry Newfield, who all received recognition for their achievements in football. Craig Weich, Fletcher Patterson and Nick Hams' hockey team should also be congratulated on their first-place finish in the Albany Men's B-Division competition. These successes create a real buzz within the House, and the boys should be incredibly proud of their achievements.

Within the House, and as the winter sporting season has come to a close, many of the younger boys have developed a strong interest in the exercise equipment behind Eclipse House. It has been extremely enjoyable working with the boys to develop training programmes and then put those programmes into practice. It has been fantastic to see their enthusiasm for fitness and their willingness to learn new skills and techniques.

In Week Eight, the Year Eleven and Year Twelve students from Breaksea and Eclipse Houses were fortunate to attend a wonderful dinner in Breaksea House as part of the celebrations for our graduating Year Twelve students. A special thank you must go to Ms Liz Stewart for her efforts in organising the event, as well as the Year Eleven students who worked so hard decorating the venue, preparing mocktails and helping make the evening as special as possible for the Year Twelve students.

It was a fantastic evening filled with exceptional food prepared by our outstanding Dining Hall team. There were plenty of smiles throughout the night and, most importantly, it provided an opportunity for everyone to come together, enjoy each other's company and celebrate the final weeks of school and boarding life for the graduating Class of 2026.

This week (Week Ten), our Year Ten students have been heading out on work experience placements. Organising these placements is a significant undertaking, and Mrs Renae O'Donnell does an exceptional job coordinating them. It is always wonderful to see the excitement, enjoyment and invaluable experiences students gain from a week such as this. Most of our Year Ten students are away from boarding during this period, although we still have three students remaining in Eclipse House. It has been great hearing about their experiences when they return to the House after a hard day's work. It certainly seems like a fitting way to round out the term.

To finish, I would like to thank all the boys for their efforts throughout the term, our parents for their ongoing support and the supervisors who spend time here in Eclipse House. Your dedication and hard work are greatly appreciated. I know how much your support means to our students and the positive impact you have on their boarding experience.

I hope everyone enjoys a happy, safe and well-deserved Term Three holiday break.
