Grade 5 & 6

Term 4  Week 2

Visit to St B's

On Wednesday we ventured to St Brigid's College to experience what life is like as a high school student at their school. We got to participate in a variety of activities such as Virtual Reality, Art, P.E, Foods, Science and Drama. We had a fantastic day of fun and are so grateful for all the amazing St Brigid's teachers that organized an amazing day for us.

Banqer

This term we have kicked off our maths learning with Money. To assist our learning, throughout the whole term, we will be using a program called Banqer. Banqer is an interactive financial education program that helps students develop important money skills in a fun and engaging way. Through having to earn income, pay expenses, purchase cars, houses and insurance etc, students learn about earning, saving, budgeting, spending and making financial decisions. You could ask your child about:

  • Their CV (curriculum vitae)
  • Their career and how much they get paid each week
  • Their superannuation
  • Tax
  • Their savings account
  • Expenses they have to pay

Mission Day

We are all extremely excited for Mission Day next Friday. Our Grade 5/6's have spent a lot of time discussing, planning and organising their stalls. We are extremely proud of all the work they have put into organising fun activities to ensure a great Mission Day for everyone. We look forward to raising as much money fas possible for people in need.

Grade 6 - Transitioning to High School

We can't believe it is already this time of the year when we begin supporting our Grade 6 students with their transition to High School. We will have lots of conversations about what this means, talk about questions, take students for visits to the High School to get to know the environment and have numerous conversations with teachers.

Grade 5 - Leadership

It is also that time of year where we start getting our future Grade 6's ready to be leaders of our school. Next week we will begin talking about leadership positions, what makes a great leader and support students with writing their leadership speeches. Students will present their speeches to their teachers and peers in Week 5.
