Preschool

Welcome back for Term 4!

To begin the term, preschool children have had the opportunity to explore new experiences set up by their teachers and educators in the environment. An ongoing interest in role-playing cafes and creative water play experiences influenced our planning for the outside space. The cubby house turned into a Cafe, equipped with a cash register and menu.  And a 'Cleaning Station' area was also developed, resourced with tools for cleaning, detergent, water, and various items that 'needed cleaning'.

This term, we have also started the day with 'Morning Baskets'. The goal of the morning baskets is to support children at drop off time to feel a sense of routine and familiarity in the space. They are also designed to support school readiness, as they are an experience to complete independently or in a small group that children are asked to pack away when finished. These steps aim to support children to gain confidence in completing whole tasks. The baskets comprise of activities that are literacy, numeracy and fine motor based.

On Monday of week 2, Melinda from Kids and Traffic visited us to engage the pre-schoolers in Road Safety conversations. Children sang songs, engaged in stories and moved their bodies as they learned some important messages about road safety. The resources provided to us by Kids and Traffic will support our programming over the coming weeks for all children at preschool.

On Thursday of week 2, educators brought out a new resource that had been purchased over the break - pipes and tunnels to be used at the water pump. This experience was a hit! Children worked as a whole group to solve problems and communicate their thoughts with one another.

Our very first fire evacuation drill occurred on Thursday of week 2. The children and adults played their parts expertly in practicing safely evacuating the preschool.

Our wonderful SLSO, Miss Clair, was visited in Week 2 by her TAFE assessor. Clair is currently completing her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, and this visit marked one of the final stages of her training. Over the past few weeks, she has engaged the children in rich experiences to support her TAFE assessments. The children have benefited from lessons designed to help them learn about and care for the country. They were also invited to use various tools and equipment to explore cause-and-effect reactions. Congratulations Miss. Clair on all your hard work here!

Welcome back to Term 4! We hope you all had a well-deserved break and enjoyed some restful, relaxing time together. We’re excited to see everyone return refreshed and ready for another wonderful term of learning and adventure at our Preschool. We look forward to sharing more fun experiences and supporting your children as they grow and explore in these last weeks of the year.

What an exciting time we have had at preschool recently! One of the highlights was our wonderful visit to the big Primary School. The children were so excited to explore the playground alongside the Kindergarten and Year 1 students. They loved playing on the equipment, climbing, sliding, and sharing joyful moments with their friends.

Over the fortnight, our little artists enjoyed a messy and magical sensory activity using shaving foam and food colouring. The children experimented by mixing the colours and creating beautiful, vibrant artworks. They had so much fun feeling the soft, fluffy foam with their hands and watching the colours swirl and blend.
