STEM

We are excited to share that TPS will be hosting our annual STEM Evening on the 28th of April (Term 2, Week 2). The evening will feature a range of interactive stations for families to explore and some students will also have the opportunity to showcase the fantastic STEM projects they have been working on in class. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
This term, our Foundation and Grade 1 students have been exploring engineering skills using MakeDo Tools. They have been designing and building bridges, shelters and other creative structures while developing key building and problem-solving skills.
Our Grade 1/2 and 2/3 students are currently working on a ScratchJr storytelling project. They have been learning the steps of storytelling and planning engaging narratives that they will soon bring to life through coding and animation.
In Grade 3/4, students have been following the design process to create and build Sphero mazes using cardboard and MakeDo Tools. They have completed the investigating and generating ideas stages and are beginning to produce their mazes this week. Fingers crossed these amazing creations will be ready to share at the STEM Evening!
Finally, our Grade 5/6 students have also been using the design process to plan their own Scratch coding projects. After investigating coding concepts and brainstorming ideas, they will begin creating their projects this week. The creativity and innovation in their ideas have been incredibly impressive, and we hope some of these projects will also be showcased during the STEM Evening.
