Making the Most of the School Holidays

The school holidays are a wonderful opportunity to slow down, reconnect as a family and enjoy spending quality time together. While exciting outings are always fun, it's often the simple moments that children remember most, playing a game together, baking in the kitchen or going for a walk.

confidence, resilience and overall wellbeing. The holidays don't need to be filled with expensive activities. A balance of rest, play and family time is often exactly what children need to return to school feeling refreshed and ready to learn.

Here are some easy and affordable holiday ideas:

Visit a local park or playground and enjoy a picnic.

Visit your local library and borrow some books to read together.

Go for a family bike ride or nature walk and see what wildlife you can spot.

Bake or cook together and let your child help measure, mix and decorate.

Get creative with painting, drawing, craft or building projects using recycled materials.

Have a family games afternoon with board games, cards or puzzles.

Plant flowers, herbs or vegetables in the garden or pots.

Enjoy a family movie night complete with homemade popcorn.

Create an indoor fort using blankets and cushions and spend time reading or playing inside.

Encourage random acts of kindness, such as making a card for a neighbour, helping around the house or donating toys they no longer use.

It's also important to maintain healthy routines where possible. Regular sleep, nutritious meals, outdoor play and limiting recreational screen time can help children feel their best.

Finally, remember that children don't need perfect holidays, they simply need time with the people who care about them. A laugh together, a shared adventure or even a quiet conversation can make lasting memories.

We wish all of our families a safe, relaxing and happy holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next term, refreshed and ready for another wonderful semester of learning.
