Group 17

Grand start to Term 3!

Term 3 has started with a burst of energy and some exciting new themes including Furs and Feathers for literacy and number focus in Maths using our new class book “Bush Mob Counting”. Group 17 have enjoyed a variety of activities linked to these themes such as observing the difference in texture between animals that have fur and feathers and learning about the different sounds Bush Mob animals make.

Our term is heavily focused on intertwining our programs to continue encouraging communication and develop key skills for everyday routine. We have particularly been enjoying our TACPAC program which draws together touch and music to create sensory alignment and help communication. The class favourites so far include relaxation with the fan, rolling with the ball and tapping with spoons.

Group 17 have been really enjoying their music program with Crissy which combines a low sensory light room with some excellent musical instruments to explore. It has been wonderful seeing the students engage with and form their own preference for percussion, strings or woodwind.

The students continue to enjoy their swimming and PE lessons. We have been observing a lot of growth in fine motor skills from all of Group 17 which has been a pleasure to see.

Finally, the students have been very excited about the new playground outdoors that includes a large sandpit, a swing, small sensory friendly trampolines and a slide. We are really looking forward to using this space in our outdoor learning when the weather starts to warm up.

It has been a fantastic start to the term, and we are looking forward to the rest of Term 3 with everyone.
