Book Week 2026

Author and Illustrator Visits
Leading up to and during Book Week, the children will have the opportunity to meet and learn from some of Australia's renowned authors and illustrators.
Morris Gleitzman - Author
Our Year 5/6 students welcomed author Morris Gleitzman on Tuesday. See below the reflection Greta wrote about the session.
Morris Gleitzman talked to us about the book Once, because the Year 5/6s read it last term.
Firstly, he talked about why he wrote the book Once and about how his grandfather went to London and made a family; then he talked about how, as soon as his grandfather wanted to surprise his family by visiting them, WWII started.
When it was over, he could not go back because they had all died sadly. He also said that when he wrote it, to his surprise, he realised that Felix the main character, was born the same year as his dad! So he was basically making an alternative childhood for his dad. He also spoke about how he became friends with the main characters. At the end, we got to ask questions, and he signed his books for anyone who had them. I really enjoyed Morris coming over to our community; it was fun! By Greta
Lucinda Gifford - Author and Illustrator
Our Prep to Year 4 students will begin celebrating Book Week on Friday 21st August with a visit from Lucinda Gifford, who is both an author and illustrator. We have been exploring many of her books during Library sessions this year. A particular favourite of Lucinda’s books is Valerie: Australia’s Bravest Sausage Dog which is inspired by the incredible true story of a sausage dog that went missing on Kangaroo Island for many months.
Families have the opportunity to pre-order Lucinda's books if they wish through The Little Book Room. Simply click on the link below.
Jo Dabrowski - Author
On Friday 28th August all of our students will participate in a session with Jo Dabrowski who is a local author. Jo has two books shortlisted for the CBCA awards this year: Dear Broccoli and The Thing About Christmas so we have our fingers crossed that she wins a prize.
Families have the opportunity to pre-order Jo's books if they wish. Simply click on the link below. The ordered books will be delivered to Corpus Christi prior to Jo's visit ready for her to sign on the day. All orders must be completed by Friday 14th August.
