Assembly - Monday 30 March
Our next Primary School Assembly will take place on Monday 30 March in The Farrall Centre and will commence at 2.15pm. We welcome members of our community to attend. Please remember that due to privacy concerns and to respect the photo permission choices of other families we ask you to refrain from taking photos and videos during assemblies.
Fabric Donations for the Art Room
We would welcome donations of spare fabric for projects in our Art Room. If you have any extra fabric you are happy to share it would be appreciated. Please drop donations to the Primary School Office. Thank you.
Year 6 Excursion - Parliament and Hobart Town Hall Tours - Tuesday 31 March
On Tuesday 31 March, Year 6 classes will walk to the Parliament of Tasmania and Hobart Town Hall, leaving school at 8.50am, and returning at the end of the school day. Classes will tour Tasmania’s Parliament House and participate in a role play in the House of Assembly, led by the Parliamentary Education Office. Classes will also tour the Hobart Town Hall and meet the Lord Mayor.
Students can wear their sports uniform with a school hat and comfortable walking shoes. Please bring water bottles and packed lunch. No lunch orders. Please let your student’s teacher know if you are available and would like to join this excursion. Please ensure Paperly details are up to date.
Year 4 Outdoor Education Excursion – Risdon Brook Dam - Wednesday 1 April
On Wednesday 1 April, Year 4 students will be going on an Outdoor Education excursion to Risdon Brook Dam where students will participate in a number of bushcraft activities. We will depart school at 9.00am and return to school by approximately 2.30pm. Students should wear their sports uniform on this day along with their school hat, but will need to bring additional warm clothes such as a beanie or puffer jacket and a raincoat as it could be cold. As we will be away from school for most of the day, students will need to bring a large packed lunch, snacks and drink bottle from home. Students should also bring a keep cup for a hot chocolate. Vacation Care Program - Bookings Close Thursday 2 April
Please find our upcoming Vacation Care Program here for Easter Tuesday 7 April and our first term holidays, which run from Monday 20 April until Monday 4 May, inclusive. Bookings will be processed via Xap Smile. All families please note that bookings close at 6.00pm, Thursday 2 April. Year 6 Canberra Trip - Parent Information Evening - Wednesday 8 April
There will be an information evening about the Year 6 Canberra Trip for parents on Wednesday 8 April from 5.15 - 6.00pm in the Year 6 classrooms.
Year 5 Outdoor Education Excursions - kunanyi/ Mt Wellington - 9, 10 & 16 April
In the coming weeks, Year 5 students will be going in class groups on an Outdoor Education bushwalk on kunanyi/Mt Wellington. The focus for the day is building resilience, working together as a team, exploring the varied ecosystems and learning about the Aboriginal history of the location. Students will begin at the Springs and walk the North South Track to the Octopus Tree. From here the group will walk up the hill to Sphinx Rock and do a Aboriginal Cultural talk under the cave. Then walk to the top of Sphinx Rock, in small groups students walk out to the lookout with teacher supervision. From Sphinx Rock the group will walk up the steep Sawmill track, across the Pinnacle Road, continuing up the hill until we link into Organ Pipes track. The group will then make their way back down the Organ Pipes track to the Springs.
Students will be required to wear warm sensible free dress clothing that is appropriate to the cold weather that can occur on the mountain - long pants (no jeans), long sleeve t-shirt/thermal shirt, jumper, warm socks and appropriate sturdy shoes for bushwalking. Students will also need to pack their day bag with a rain jacket, spare warm jacket/fleece, beanie, and gloves, spare socks, plenty of food for lunch and snacks, a big drink bottle of water, and any personal medication. The students will leave school at 9.00am and return at 3.00pm. Each class will be attending on separate days: Year 5B - Thursday 9 April, Year 5C - Friday 10 April and Year 5S - Thursday 16 April.
Chamber Music Concert
Join us for an evening of collaborative music-making at The Friends’ School Chamber Music Concert on Tuesday 14 April. This 90-minute showcase highlights the dedication of our musicians from Years 5 to 12 performing in a range of small ensembles. From classical trios to contemporary quartets, the program features a rich mix of genres. Please come along to support our creative music students as they take to the stage and share their music with us all.
This is a free event and all are welcome to attend.
