Year 5

Bathurst Goldfields Excursion
During Week One, our Year 5 students enjoyed an exciting and educational excursion to the Bathurst Goldfields. This hands-on experience brought our History unit on colonial Australia to life, allowing students to step back in time and explore what life was like during the gold rush era.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of engaging activities, including gold panning, exploring replica miner’s camps, and learning about the challenges faced by early settlers. They particularly enjoyed the opportunity to search for gold and gained a deeper understanding of the resilience, and determination required during this period in Australian history.
The excursion provided valuable connections to our classroom learning, helping students build a stronger understanding of Australia’s past in a meaningful and memorable way. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, curiosity, and respectful behaviour from all students throughout the day.
