FINAL ROUND - YR. 5&6 WINTER SPORT
It feels like only yesterday we were handing out footy jerseys, netball bibs and sorting teams for our Year 5 & 6 students for their term of Winter Sport; yet, tomorrow see’s our teams play Round 7, their final home and away games. We wish all of our teams a fun day of games against our neighbouring school; St. Joan of Arc. A big thank you to those parents that have offered their time and efforts to support the teams this week: Michael M, Amy A & Edwina S.
ROUND 7 GAME DETAILS: 5/6/26
* FOOTBALLERS: MUST bring a mouthguard – no mouthguard, no play
*GAMES TIMES: approx. 1.00pm – 2.30pm.
HOME GAMES: St. Finbar’s 1: vs St. Joan of Arc 2:
Football: Hurlingham Oval #1 (big oval), Nepean Hwy, Brighton East. (Mr. Tyndall)
Netball: St. Finbar’s school courts. (Mr Mills).
Footballers to be picked up by SJA at approx. 12.45pm, return to school by 2.50pm.
AWAY GAMES: St. Joan of Arc 1 vs St Finbar’s 2
Football: William Street Reserve, William St, Brighton. (Mrs. Thompson)
Netball: St. Joan of Arc PS, 90 Dendy St, Brighton (Miss Bourke & Baden Turner)
Bus departs: 12.35pm. Returns by 3.15pm
LIGHTNING PREMIERSHIP TOURNAMENT TIME!
This week kicked off the first of our District Lightning Premiership sporting tournaments, with our girls and boys soccer teams playing in a round-robin tournament at Caulfield Park on Tuesday. We congratulate both teams on their determined efforts over the day, working hard as a team and giving it their all. Both teams came away with wins, losses and draws, with Sacred Heart boys and St. Mary’s Hampton girls being the winning teams on the day. A massive thank you to our amazing parents; Chad Tiet and Adrian Migliore, who assisted with coaching and guiding our teams on the day; along with the support of our staff; Mrs Amanda Norton and Miss Shannon Bourke.
Next week our three netball teams play at Duncan McKinnon in their LP Netball tournament, with our football team off to Basil Reserve in Malvern East on Friday. We wish all teams a great day of competitive games!
HOOPTIME UPDATES
It’s been a busy few weeks of basketball trials for our basketball-enthused Year 5 & 6 students wishing to try out for this years HoopTime rep teams. The HoopTime basketball tournament days have long been one of our school’s favourite sporting opportunities, with so many keen to be a part of this fun and exciting round-robin tournament. Senior teams will be announced in the next few days, with permission notices requesting for parent support with coaching and scoring for their child’s team. Please contact Tania if you are willing to support this event.
Trials for our Year 3 & 4 Junior HoopTime teams begin next week (Week 8). Please look out for the Seesaw announcement of days and times for the trials each week. Students are allowed to wear their sports uniform on their trial days (if not a PE/Class Sport day).

GET SET…. OUR NEW ATHLETICS CARNIVAL IS NEAR!
After bad weather spoiled our Term 1 Athletics day, we’ve managed to lock in a new date for our Whole School Athletics Carnival. Please diary this date now - we’d love the support of as many parents as possible to assist with this whole school ‘house-spirited’ event!
