From the Classroom

Grade 5/6 pencil holders

During this activity, students explored basic weaving techniques in three dimensions. They designed and constructed a functional pencil holder using paper cups and paddle pop sticks. Students applied colour and compositional choices in their work, and solved problems during the construction process. Students used wool and a weaving pattern to create their final piece.

Foundation News

What an amazing term it has been in Foundation! We have been busy learning, exploring, creating, and having fun together.

One of the highlights of the term was our very first excursion to the Zoo. We enjoyed learning about a variety of animals and their habitats and loved seeing them up close. It was an exciting day filled with lots of new discoveries.

We also participated in the school Cross Country event. Every student showed great determination, tried their very best, and encouraged their classmates throughout the day. We were very proud of the positive attitude and sportsmanship displayed by everyone.

Our Foundation students have had a fantastic time joining in the Hip Hop session and dancing up a storm. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, confidence, and energy shine through.

We took part in National Simultaneous Storytime and enjoyed listening to Luna Roo. Following the story, we used our Bee-Bot robots to play a fun game of soccer, combining literacy, technology, and teamwork.

Spending time with our Grade 6 buddies continues to be a favourite activity. We love learning and creating together and have enjoyed making shape monsters and colourful rainbows.

We have also loved participating in our Language Experience activities that connect with our letters of the week. Some of our standout activities included making dinosaurs and robots, going on a bear hunt adventure, and following step-by-step drawing lessons to create lions, elephants, and robots. These hands-on experiences have helped make our learning fun, engaging, and memorable.

In the classroom, we have been learning lots of new sounds and are becoming more confident readers and writers. We are using our knowledge of sounds to help us read words and write sentences. We are also gaining confidence in writing about our weekends and sharing our ideas with others.

In Mathematics, we have been learning to recognise, order, make, and count numbers from 1 to 20. We are becoming more confident with numbers every day.

We have had a wonderful term full of learning, growth, and exciting experiences. We can't wait to see what adventures and new learning opportunities next term will bring!
