International Student Update
Thursday 28 August 2025
Thursday 22nd August
Our ILC students delivered wonderful presentations on Australian native animals. This activity was designed by Ms Podesser as a follow-up to Moonlit Sanctuary excursion on 15th August, and the students impressed us with their confidence and creativity.
Monday 25th August
On our Professional Learning Day, Ms Podesser presented to all staff an overview of the International Student Program 2025. Her session covered:
This Week
This week in Science, Ms Liapis (who also teaches Maths) brought the “lab” into the classroom! Students really enjoyed the hands-on activities, and it created lots of excitement and curiosity for learning.
Tuesday 26th August
We warmly welcomed Ms Maria Bakalidou, a student teacher from Greece, to Mordialloc College. Ms Bakalidou is originally a Greek language teacher and is now working towards becoming an English teacher in Australia. She will spend the last four weeks of Term 3 with our ILC students. We hope her story and experience will inspire our students and encourage them in their own journeys of learning English.
Tuesday 2nd September (after school)
We will host a session for our Year 11 international students with guest speaker William Wang, an experienced education agent. He will present on pathways beyond VCE, offering students more valuable ideas before the Parent Teacher Interviews. If time allows, topics such as migration policies, scholarships, and visa extensions will also be discussed.
Wednesday 3rd September
Our Parent Teacher Interviews will be held for international students and their families. This will be a great opportunity for parents to hear about their children’s learning progress as well as their experiences of life at school in Australia.
We are proud of our international students and grateful for the support of our staff in ensuring their success. We look forward to sharing more updates with you in the coming weeks.
