Anti Fast-Fashion Taster Workshop
On Monday 14 September we had the taster morning for the Anti Fast-Fashion workshops with our guest artist, Anna Thomson. Anna was a student at Seymour College, back when it was called Seymour Technical High School. Anna wanted to “give back” to the college community by running the Anti Fast-Fashion workshops with our students. We anticipated that the group would have about 10 to 15 students, however we were overwhelmed by the number and popularity of the program, and unfortunately, many students went on the wait list.
The 23 students who did participate learnt about the ethics and philosophy behind the Anti Fast-Fashion movement and the environmental impact Fast-Fashion has on our entire planet. Students participated in activities that helped them to clarify their interests and taste in fashion and art, then they created a collage focusing on texture and form, that will function as a source of inspiration for their next workshop.
Anna is a very high energy, engaging facilitator and the school (especially the art department and our Year 8-10 students), have been incredibly fortunate to work with her on this program. Anna was able to share with the students, her experiences working in New York and other places, showing the group a video of her working with diverse communities on various art events and programs.
We look forward to delving deeper into the project in Term 4.

16 Days of Activism – Say NO to Domestic & Family Violence
Seymour College is proud to support the Rotary Club of Seymour’s Say NO to Domestic & Family Violence campaign.
Some of our staff are wearing their campaign T-shirts each Monday. This is a simple but visible way to start conversations, raise awareness and show that family violence has no place in our community.
Each Monday, we’ll also share information about family violence, available supports and ways we can all help create a safer community.
🧡 See the signs. Start the conversation. Say NO to Domestic & Family Violence.
Week 6 — Monday 14 September 2026
VIOLENCE ISN’T ALWAYS VISIBLE
Domestic and family violence is not limited to physical violence.
It can include emotional abuse, coercive control, financial abuse, intimidation, isolation, threats and technology-facilitated abuse. Recognising the signs is an important first step towards change.
