GMDSSV Swimming
On Tuesday 19th March, our school's best swimmers took part in the Hume Region swimming championships at Wodonga.
Congratulations to our 14 years girls relay, our 15 years mixed relay and our 18 years boys relay teams who all swam well.
A special congratulations to Nick Brereton who swam brilliantly all day with first place in the boys 16 years backstroke and second in the boys 16 year 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly. Nick’s effort culminated in second place in the age group championship and qualification for the State all schools final in Melbourne next term. This is a fantastic achievement by Nick and one we are all very proud of.
Senior Summer Sport
On Friday the 15th March our Year 9-12 students took part in Goulburn Murray sport against the other secondary schools from our area. Our students participated in Volleyball, Tennis, Tenpin bowling, Lawn Bowls, Super 8’s cricket and Table Tennis. Participation continues to be a big part of our sporting program with numbers up again this year.
A fantastic day of competition and fun was had by all with many enjoying a new sport for the first time.
There were many great performances but a special mention must go to our intermediate boys volleyball team who won their division and will now represent McGuire College at the Hume championships later in the year. Great effort guys and good luck at Hume.
Winter sport will be offered to our Year 9-12 students in Term 2, so keep an eye out for that.
A special thank you to all the staff that gave up their time to help supervise sport on the day.
