From the Acting Head

In this edition of eLink, please enjoy the pictorial reflection of our three wonderful Speech Night events held last week as well as a gallery of the Year 6 Presentation Evening. The events were an apt reflection of our school, providing a gracious celebration of student achievement and effort, as well as some spectacular musical and other items.

May I take this opportunity to provide some important reminders to the School community.

All students are expected to be in the new school uniform for the commencement of the 2020 school year. The second-hand uniform shop, which has limited stock of the new uniform items, is open this Thursday 12th and Friday 13th December from 10 am until midday. Our uniform supplier, Bob Stewart, is open this week, including Saturday, but will then be closed until 14th January 2020.

If you have extenuating circumstances that will make it difficult to adhere to the end of the uniform transition period, please email me at emmaorielly@girton.vic.edu.au

May I remind students and parents that the new Student Mobile Device Policy comes into effect on the first day of school next year. A copy of the policy has been emailed to all parents and carers, as well as Senior School students. The policy is also contained within this edition of eLink. Please support your child in implementing this policy by helping them to regulate their use of mobile devices over the school holiday break. We also recommend starting the year with a paper diary for students who may not wish to use Microsoft Outlook calendar, or similar, on their laptop.

This holiday break also provides a good opportunity to check that school dresses are the appropriate length (touching the knee), and uniforms are presentable in general. Please ensure your child has the appropriate hair cut in preparation for the new school year including the removal of artificial hair colouring.

Detail of VCE results for our graduating Year 12 students are within this edition of eLink, and we are very proud. There are also some stories about the general Year 12 journey at this School and it is truly gratifying to hear our students talk fondly of their family, friends and teachers in our school community.

A reminder too that the School Reception will close on Friday 20th December and reopen on Monday 6th January.

We look forward to welcoming all our new and returning students in 2020 on Thursday 30th January.

Finally, may I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

Yours sincerely

Dr Emma O'Rielly
