SPORT REPORT - Term1, Week 9

Since last week we have seen COVID-19 take over aspects of our lives and we have had sweeping restrictions across all levels of physical activity, plus cancellations of national sporting competitions and the banning of spectators from other competitions.

This has, unfortunately, resulted in the following College, Diocesan and NSWCCC events being suspended.

The governing bodies of all major codes have made decisions to not engage in training sessions, trials or competitive games until the foreseeable future clears and as a result, St Gregory’s College will apply these guidelines to our Winter MCS teams and ISA Winter teams.

“CSNSW Sport notes the expert medical advice of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee, Commonwealth, State and Territory who have provided advice against holding non-essential, organised public gatherings of more than 500 people from Monday 16th March 2020.”

MCS (Metropolitan Catholics Schools) will be making informed decisions regarding all upcoming MCS sporting events. As of Monday 16 March, MCS will cease/cancel the following sports:

MCS Football rounds 1-3 (including MCS Football trials)

Winter Sport Options

We will be looking to implement a College House Sport competition that Year 7 to 10 will engage in on a weekly basis. Year Groups will be released one at a time throughout a set day of the week to satisfy the prescribed safety guidelines. More information will be released shortly.

House Cup

With limited sport and other co-curricular events taking place, House Points will be greatly hindered.

Well done to the team upon their selection into the College Winter 1st Grade who have contributed to their respective House Cup tallies.

SPORT REPORT - Term 1, Week 10

Sport and politics are both fluctuating daily in response to the current health pandemic we are experiencing. Governing bodies for respective sports are adjusting their outlook on when and how sport should be played, and we are abided to follow the decisions made by the respective governing bodies.

MCS (Metropolitan Catholics Schools) have made a decision to cancel Term 2 MCS Sporting competitions. Principals along with College Sport Coordinators will meet in the near future to discuss and devise plans for Winter and Spring MCS competitions.

The College will endeavour to keep you updated as these decisions are being made by MCS, NSW CCC and Marist Schools Australia.

CSNSW Sport is working closely with all Diocesan and Association Representatives to ensure all information is current and available to parents.

Refunds:

Each Diocese has its own process for actioning refunds. Please be patient as we work through these. Any questions should be directed to the contact details found on the top of your invoice.
Students who have been selected in a Polding / MacKillop / NSWCCC team will be contacted directly to organise refunds and discuss uniform options. The CSNSW Sport store has been closed, for now, no merchandise can be purchased until further notice.
