Sporting update

Congratulations to our interschool students who recently competed at last week’s Interschool Athletics Carnival. Burrendah students displayed wonderful sportsmanship.  Congratulations also to the four students who won a champion medal.  Our girls cricket team participated in the state grand final for cricket, a fabulous achievement. Congratulations to Mr Crouch who organised all of these events. It was terrific to see parent/carers attending and cheering on the students. More information about these events can be found inside the newsletter.

Bike Competition

I would like to acknowledge Mrs Bain and the senior students who have assisted in giving out stickers to encourage so many students to walk, scoot or ride to school. Congratulations to Chris in Room 28 who was the winner of the bike competition. I would also like to acknowledge Dr Jags Krishnan MLA Riverton for the donation of the $350 voucher.

Parents National Schools Opinion Survey (NSOS)

Thank you to the parent/carers who completed the NSOS. We had 159 responses to this survey. The information from this survey is being currently being collated.

Undercover area update

Our undercover area is progressing with the concrete being poured recently.  In the coming weeks we will need to close the staff carpark and access to Castlereagh Close gate for a day to accommodate a crane.  When this date has been confirmed a Connect notice will be sent to parent/carers. Pedestrian entry on this day will be via Pinetree Gully Road only.

Junior Basketball Court upgrade

I’m pleased to announce our junior basketball court will be resurfaced over the Christmas break.  This is part of a major renovation to our basketball court.  It is expected that the junior basketball court renovation will be completed by early March, 2023. On behalf of Burrendah PS I would like to acknowledge Minister Ellery for her support in this significant upgrade, which is funded by the Department of Education.

This project includes relocating one of the senior basketball stands to the junior basketball court as an additional practice ring.  The other two senior basketball stands will be relocated to the remaining part of the senior basketball court as part of the undercover area build. This will make a half court basketball court outside Room 28.

Music Concert

The first of our end of year concerts commences on Monday evening the 21st November with the music concert from 6:00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. If you have been fortunate enough to hear the students practising with Ms Coleman before school in the undercover area you will know how much work is going into this concert to make it an event to attend.

2023 Class Placement requests

Thank you to the families who have sent through 2023 class placement requests.  We will be looking at these requests next week to begin our class placements for 2023.  I ask that you do not contact teachers directly with any requests as your request needs to be sent to the Principal through emailing Julie.Scaramella@education.wa.edu.au no later than Monday 21st November. I discuss parent/carer requests with staff as part of our class placement processes.

Staffing update

We will be farewelling Mrs Skinner at the end of this term.  Mrs Skinner will be moving to another school from 2023.  We wish Mrs Skinner all the best at her new school and thank her for her hard work and dedication to Burrendah over the last four years.

Congratulations to the following staff who have secured a classroom placement at Burrendah PS for 2023; Mrs King, Mr Chong, Mr Ellis and Mr Huddleston. We look forward to you continuing your teaching role next year.
