Religious Education News

Congratulations to the students in Gr 5KM and Gr 5DE who received their First Eucharist on Sunday. Father Andrew read the Gospel of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes and expressed to the congregation the importance of sharing what we have with those in need. That by giving, we are embodying the love of Christ and bringing the Good News to those around us. We pray for those students that they may grow in their understanding of God's special love for us and that they are empowered to bring God's message of peace, love and compassion to the world through their thoughts, words and actions.

Thank you to those families who have returned their Project Compassion boxes. May these boxes please be returned to the school office as soon as practical.

Thank-you for your generosity in this area.

Sunday was also a special day in our church calendar as it marked the start of Holy Week with Palm Sunday.  For most Christians, this week — Holy Week — is the most important week of the year. Holy Week culminates in the Paschal Triduum, the three days commemorating the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This year, the students at St Louis' commemorated Holy Week by working with their buddies to create an amazing representation of the 14 Stations of the Cross.

The Stations of the Cross takes us on a prayerful journey of Jesus' last day on Good Friday. Christ’s journey to the cross includes themes of justice, poverty, mercy, friendship and hope. As the students created and then walked through the 14 Stations, they  shared in Jesus' journey through scripture, prayer and reflection.
