Celebrating Diversity and Harmony

Harmony Week and National Reconciliation Week

Harmony Week

During March, we focused on the richness and diversity of our school community. Harmony Week is celebrated every year in Australia when we come together to celebrate our First Nations peoples and our diverse cultures and traditions as a nation. “Everyone Belongs" is a powerful message that highlights the importance of inclusivity and diversity in our society.  As migrant Australians we come from all corners of the globe and our difference make us stronger as a community.

We celebrated our multicultural society through various activities and events. In Chapel and assembly, and with hands-on activities, music, First Nations story time, in which students and staff could participate. These activities promote cross-cultural understanding and respect. It is a reminder that as a community we should strive for a society where everyone is valued and respected, regardless of their race, religion or cultural background.  We are so fortunate we can celebrate the wonderful diversity in our community by bringing people from different cultures together to learn from each other, share our experiences and perspectives, and create a sense of belonging for everyone.

In Australia our rich cultural diversity makes us a unique and vibrant community. It allows us to embrace our differences and celebrate our shared humanity, ensuring everyone belongs. The Aboriginal proverb below encompasses the key messages about our time and place.
