New Primary

Building

Year 3-6

Our Year 3-6 Students have been relishing learning in their new, state-of-the-art home. Featuring Visual Art, Technology, Performing Arts and Collaborative Learning Spaces, the students have adjusted beautifully to their new surroundings.

We invited current Primary Captains, Mia and Akshaj to share some of their experiences and thoughts on learning in their new surroundings.

From Mia,

Aitken College teachers and students welcomed the new architecturally designed Cumberland building which was available for teachers and students to use in February 2023. The building was fitted with new classrooms, open space learning, communal lounge or workspaces, breakout rooms, spacious Visual Arts, Performing Arts and STEM rooms. Everything teachers and students required in today’s learning was incorporated in the design process. Every student has different learning requirements as well as different goals. The structure of the building was designed to include various learning spaces which students will benefit from to assist in their learning, their development, and their growth.

From Akshaj

The new Cumberland Building, a magnificent masterpiece, is really being liked and appreciated by all Cumberland students in every sense and every moment of the day. The terrific breakout spaces, the remarkable infrastructure, Cumberland students really enjoy this “Next-Gen, cool and stylish” school building . The comfort, enjoyment, utilities, sitting and learning areas, make the school feel vibrant and futuristic. No wonder, Cumberland students have adapted and loved this change quickly.

It's not just the students who have benefited from the new facilities. Mr Keegan shared the following-

Our incredible new building has added much value, engagement, and possibility to student learning. The cleverly designed classroom and shared learning spaces, including a range of functional furniture, allow for independent and collaborative group work or whole class and cohort teaching. We love this new learning space!
