Duty Free Lunch:  Article 14.1

  • Are you aware that your OGEA contract guarantees a duty-free lunch period?

Combination Classes: Article 15.5

  • Are you aware that the OGEA contract provides release time for combination teachers?  This was increased in our latest contract.
  • As a combination class teacher, you are entitled to release time, up to 3 days, for planning and preparation.  Make sure you put in for these preparation days well ahead of when you plan to take them to ensure that a substitute is available.
  • Are you aware that the OGEA contract provides a $1400 stipend for teaching a combination class?
  • The stipend is split between your December and June paychecks.

SDC teacher release time:  Article 15.9

  • Are you aware that the new OGEA contract now provides release days for Special Day Class teachers?
  • As an SDC teacher, you are entitled to release time, up to 3 days, for planning and preparation.  Make sure you put in for these preparation days well ahead of when you plan to take them to ensure that a substitute is available.
  • All special education teachers (SAI, SDC, and RSP) receive a $1500 stipend as part of their annual pay.

Intermediate School Prep Period Protection:  Article 14.6.2

  • Are you aware that your prep period in the intermediate schools is protected by the OGEA contract?
  • All middle school teachers are entitled to a prep period.
  • Subbing on a prep period is voluntary and will be compensated.
  • Special education teachers in intermediate school are also entitled to a case work period. Article 14.6.2.1

Are you aware that, as an OGEA member, you are part of a democratic organization that helps determine the rules you are employed under in your collectively bargained agreement?  You get to give input into the bargaining process, vote for OGEA leadership to direct bargaining, and vote on whether or not to accept the bargaining agreements.
