Week 9

School Council

The Annual General Meeting for the Moyhu School Council was held last Monday night.

The Parent members on the School Council for the 2019 School Year are:

Liz Proft, Emma Shanley, Bec Hansted , Kylie Morey, Kerrie Evans, Chris Shanley, Dave Suffield and Biddy Burrowes.

The DET members are Bec Gathercole and Rick Martin

Renee Fraser is the minute taker and on the Finance committee along with Liz Proft, Biddy Burrowes and myself.

Liz Proft will continue to be our School Council President. This is Liz’s 6th year as president of the Moyhu Primary School, a great achievement and endorsement from the whole school community as to the wonderful job she is doing.

As Principal of the school, I am the executive Officer.

The Annual Report to the Community was presented at school Council – If anyone wants to read this report, please contact me and I can provide a copy.

Ride2School Day

It was great to see a number of children bring their bikes and/or walk so that they could participate in the Ride2School day last Friday. We rode or walked on the Bike Path to Moyhu. It was great to see a number of the junior students pump their little legs and make the distance. The bike path does make a safe option for our children to Ride or walk to school. Thanks to Emma for joining in on the ride and supporting the children. The Year 3-6 children will be participating in a bike ride on the 26th April from Myrtleford to Bright. If they can get their bike and legs ready for that ride over the next few weeks that would be great. The Annual Moyhu Easter Ride is also happening again this year at Moyhu and the Moyhu Primary School on Easter Saturday.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

The Year 3-6 children have continued to cook up a storm every second week at the Kitchen Garden program. If you would like, the children are able to bring these recipes home to cook the dishes for you. The children would like to thank our volunteers who help and support them during these sessions, Gill Peters, Kris Suffield and Kylie Morey. At the school we are starting to get our gardens back on track after the Christmas break. Crystal Jones has kindly offered to come in and work with the children in the gardens. This should ensure that we are producing a lot more fresh vegetables for the Kitchen program and/or for the children to take and cook with at home.

Bowls Challenge

I hear that the night of the Bowls Challenge was great fun. The Morey, Brand and Burrowes families went down and represented Moyhu P.S. They didn't manage to win any money for the school but everyone had fun which is the main thing. Thank you for representing our school.

Swimming

Due to the weather cooling off, there will be no more swimming this term. We have had a great two months of regular lessons most weeks. We will pick up in Term 4 when we will also do our swimming block at the YMCA.
