Gastroenteritis

It has been bought to the school's attention that there has been social media discussion about the recent Year 5/6 camp relating to illness.

Upon collection of evidence, the gastro like symptoms were highly likely bought into the camp by one or more of our students.

Camp Arrabri was in no way connected; their camp was highly impressive in relation to cleanliness, structure and attention to detail on all levels by Arrabri staff.

This moment is timely to remind parents that although the Department of Education does not regard gastroenteritis as an official ‘excludable’ disease, the Health Department highly recommends a 48 hour exclusion period AFTER symptoms eg. vomiting or diarrhoea cease; including siblings.  Families should seek medical attention, limit contact with others and stay at home until symptoms have passed.

All families are strongly urged to consider the repercussions to others when returning students to school prematurely or attending excursions and special events.

Good general hygiene remains the best defence against infection; homes and schools should encourage children to regularly wash their hands and cover their nose and mouth if sneezing and coughing.

Botanic Garden Picnic with Mrs Waiti

On Friday 22nd November Indiana W and Atlanta H redeemed their Teacher Auction prize, “Botanic Garden and Picnic with Mrs Waiti.”

What a fantastic day we had at the gardens. We felt very spoilt with a beautiful hand made picnic lunch by our awesome PFA (Vicki).

Indy and Atlanta navigated our garden walk using their amazing map skills. We looked at medicinal plants (melaleuca) and smelled the aromatic leaves. We found ochre and clay to make rock art and face paint. Both girls enjoyed playing on the lily pad bridge. The weather was perfect and the garden was stunning. Indy and Atlanta said, “it was the best day ever!”

We missed you Archie J.
