News from Nurse Jess

Hello Yarrabah families,

I hope you have had another positive week with remote learning and are enjoying all the videos and activities the staff are providing! It is wonderful to see lots of students engaging with the programs on Seesaw and being able to see their smiley faces in all the photos.

This week on “What’s news with Nurse Jess” we discussed the importance of a healthy balanced diet and staying active!

We learnt about the 5 important food groups – Fruit, Vegetables, Grains, meat/fish and dairy. We want to try consume these foods every day! These foods are important in helping us stay healthy and strong.

Water is also an important factor in our daily diet, did you know our body is made up of 70% water! This is why we need to be replenishing our water stores throughout the day. Making sure we have a drink bottle at hand during the day is an easy way to stay hydrated.

Getting outside and moving our body is also vital in maintaining not only our physical but mental health. Regular brain breaks outdoors allows our mind time to clear and refresh before our next task. In our house we have enjoyed taking our dog for long walks and having a run around the local football oval. What has been your favourite brain break activity in your home?

I hope you enjoy this week’s videos and it seems we’ll being seeing each other at school before we know it!

Have another healthy and happy week! Keeping washing those hands!
