A fishy aroma welcomed seven MCC secondary students to Apex park on arrival, but cleared by race time. Our first representative Thomas Kelleher was sent on his 5km journey alongside a keen field of 16-21 year olds. Minutes later the junior age groups packed the road from shoulder to shoulder and were sent off in pursuit, albeit on a shorter 3km course. Thomas returned in 5th place for the 16 year old boys. Shortly afterwards the 3km runners Nathanael Rossgregor and Pawu Kirirua-Gill arrived 11th and 12th respectively, with Riegardt Grobler, Isaac Schmidt and Cameron Foley following just outside the top 15. Sienna Kelleher had to wait for the male runners to return before the female races began. Our only female representative, Sienna returned in 11th place, qualifying for the Loddon Mallee Region finals by finishing in the top 15. Congratulations to all of our representatives and also to those who qualified for the LMR finals in St Arnaud on June 4th.
