Come Lord Jesus

This Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent, a beginning of a new liturgical year. Advent is a time of preparation, preparation for Christmas. Advent is also a season of reflection and longing for the coming of Jesus. Each of the weeks has a theme of hope, peace, joy, and love.

The First Sunday of Advent's theme is 'hope'. It is hope for the second coming of Jesus. Jesus has already come on Earth 2000 years ago, so we are in hope that he will come again, and we need to be ready.

In Matthew's Gospel we are urged to,

"Stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming. You may be quite sure of this that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglar would come, he would have stayed awake and would not have allowed anyone to break through the wall of his house. Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

Each Monday morning we will gather in prayer at our Assembly journeying through Advent. Parents are warmly welcome to join us.
