Fathers and Special Friends' Day

Right across the world at different times of the year there is a special day to acknowledge the father figure in our lives.

As I look back on my own life, I remember my father as a person who left his home in a war torn country to come to Australia where he would establish his family and provide a home of comfort, safety and great belief in his faith.

My father taught me to accept and be thankful with what was provided to me and he set the example of compassion, trust and an appreciation of the simple things in life.

He also showed me how to appreciate what was around me and showed me that to do one's best and to strive to reach one's potential, was a success and an achievement that should be celebrated.

My father never had high airs and even when he would come home tired after a long day at work, he always had time for me.  He was a partner and companion to my mother and when he was taken away from us at an early age, due to a Melanoma that couldn't be treated, I knew that the wonderful memories we shared together would be in my heart forever.

Today's world is very different from when I grew up with the added pressures put upon families.

The one constant in our lives is that Our Heavenly Father is always looking out for that person, the head of our family, may it be a he or she, whatever our belief is, always looking out for their children.  As a faith filled community we should never lose sight that God will provide for us all, even if we don't see or believe it at the time.  Our life on earth is only a pathway for our future life and by following in Jesus' footsteps we will reach the ultimate gratification of eternal life.

My father always trusted that God would prevail and look after his family even when he was no longer with us.

I trust and believe that as parents we will able to look after our families even in difficult or different circumstances.

To all the fathers or special friends in our community I hope that you are acknowledged for the good that you do for the family.   May God always be by your side to give you strength and confidence to do your best.

In memory of all fathers...

Kind regards
