IMPORTANT TERM 1 2023 DATES
Below is a list of some of the main dates on the school calendar for Term 1 2023. Families need to be aware that events which involve organisations outside of St John’s, such as the St Andrew’s Parish, may at times need to be rescheduled. Please be aware that these changes are beyond our control.
2024 ENROLMENT INFO NIGHT
On Tuesday, 28th February a 2024 Enrolment Information Evening will be held in the School Hall. Families living within the school catchment area who are interested in enrolling their child are welcome to attend. The meeting will commence at 7pm and should conclude by 8:30pm. The evening will include the following:
- A tour of the building and facilities.
- A presentation on the values and educational approach of the school.
- An outline of the enrollment criteria and process.
- Questions from the floor.
We look forward to meeting everyone at this forum.
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION MEETING
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to Baptised Catholic students in Year 3. Students are required to attend a Preparation Meeting with a Parent on Thursday 16th March @ 7pm in the School Hall. The Sacrament will be celebrated the following week on Thursday 23rd March @ 7pm in the School Hall.
SACRAMENT DATES 2023
The dates of this year’s celebrations of First Holy Communion and Confirmation will be announced at the end of February. With the Parish now hosting six Catholic Primary Schools, the process of securing sacramental dates is a very complex one. As soon as all dates have been ratified by the Parish and the Primary Schools, we will notify families.
TERM ONE UNIFORM OPTIONS
Parents are reminded that we are currently in a transitional phase between our current uniform and a multipurpose uniform which may be worn everyday. We are aiming to finalise this process by the start of Term 2. During Term 1 students may wear the sports uniform on any school day, or if they wish they may wear the full summer uniform on non-sports days.
Members of the Uniform Subcommittee will meet this Friday 17th February @ 9:30.

SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL
Last year we established our St John’s School Advisory Council. The role of this group is to support the Principal, Parish Priest and leadership team of the school. Corinne Landicho was the Parish Representative on the board, but with Gavin and Callianne now at secondary school, she has tendered her resignation. Therefore, we are calling on any parents who are active members of the St Andrew’s Parish, to express an interest in being part of the School Advisory Council. Please contact the school if you are interested in pursuing this role. Thanks once again to our Advisory Council members for their ongoing commitment to our school community.
The members of the council give voice to the parent body in advising the principal about important matters related to the ongoing education for our children. Below are our current council members:

A reminder to School Advisory Council members that our first meeting for 2023 will be next Tuesday 21st February @ 7:00 pm here at school.

- Tuesday, 9th May at 7pm
- Tuesday, 25th July at 7pm
- Tuesday 22nd August at 7pm

PREP REST DAYS 2023
To assist Prep students in coping with the fatigue which is associated with commencing school, the first five Wednesdays of Term One are designated rest days for Prep students. We have three scheduled rest days remaining for our Year Preps. The dates for these are:
- Wednesday, 15th February 2023
- Wednesday, 22nd February 2023
- Wednesday, 1st March 2023
