Boys' Boarding

Boys’ Boarding have had another week of learning inside and outside the classroom. On Saturday we took the boys out to the Telegraph Station where everyone enjoyed exploring the surrounds and taking a dip in the water that attempted to fill the Todd River over the weekend. On Sunday night we met after Chapel for a planning session where the boys, with the assistance of staff, planned their week with a view to building their self management and commitment skills.

The boys were involved in Polly Farmer and Ex Activities including Oztag, gym, rock climbing and Japanese club. The boys are also in football and boxing sessions outside the College.

The group is VERY active – if anyone has mountain bikes gathering dust, skateboards or sporting equipment that is no longer being used, the boys would make great use of it!

Girls' Boarding

Most of our new boarders seem to have settled in well and last years' boarders need to be given a lot of credit for this as new friendships have been formed and guidance given.

There has been plenty to keep everyone occupied on the weekends and during the week.

Our boarding house basketball team, the Sapphires, have played their first two games of the year, and met some stiff opposition. Without some of the more experienced players (who left at the end of last year) they are still finding their feet but doing the best they can do. I’m sure with a few more training sessions, they will improve.

Over the weekend we delivered flowers and cards to the residents of Flynn Lodge at Old Timers. Obviously things have changed over the last twelve months so we didn’t go in and chat with them or sing songs but hopefully they enjoyed our gifts and knew we hadn’t forgotten about them.

We then went for a bus ride to look at the hundreds of planes currently stored at the airport and managed to do a bit of shopping on the way home.

On Saturday evening we went to the bowling alley. The standouts were Izzy 120, Lekisha 117, Curty 110 and Maddy 107. Well done to those four girls. Everyone had fun and enjoyed their snacks and arcade games afterwards.

I’d like to commend the girls for looking so smart in their uniforms and generally being well organised. It’s pleasing to see so many sign up for extra help with Polly Farmer and for numerous sporting activities. It’s a very true saying that busy boarders are generally happy boarders and I’m sure it will be the same this year.
