Food Technology- Jane Stacey

I have had the pleasure of seeing so many wonderful photos of students preparing muesli bars, quiches, bliss balls, napoletana sauce, macaroni cheese with a twist, pizza and treats for a special person. Many students have taken on the challenge of cooking at home with their families and experimenting with the recipes to make it their own. Thank you to all the students who also came on to Webex over this term to check in and have a chat about cooking! Well done everyone!

Physical Education – Hayley Northridge

This term has been a difficult one, however the students have been fantastic and continued to show their skills while at home.

We have been meeting every week via Webex and participating in a range of games and activities. This has been great as we have been able to keep in contact while keeping active.

Well done to all students and I hope you enjoy a well deserved break.

Outdoor Education – Rachael McKeown

Term 3 took us to remote learning where the students competed in challenging physical tasks each week. These included scavenger hunts, hut building, indoor activities and orienteering. Students also enjoyed our weekly WebEx meetings and were able to share their ideas and experiences of what they had been taking part in at home.

Science- Chloe Venzia

This term Secondary 9/10 Science Elective Groups have taken part in remote learning and face to face learning. During face to face learning students undertook science experiment based on Earth science. They demonstrated the layers of the earth by recreating them in a jar and took a dive into the ocean to understand the different layers.

During remote learning Secondary 9/10 students got the opportunity to partake in some amazing Chemistry, Physics and Earth science experiments at home. Students were given the opportunity to participate in Walking Rainbow, Hoop Gliders, Earthquake Shake, Chain Reaction, Lighting Balloon and Egg Drop just to name a few.

Music- Justin Hall

Students in Year 9-12 Elective groups have also listened to the new song ‘My Future’, and have set to task analysing the mood and meaning of the song. Music production has also been a focus, where students have familiarized themselves with Beep Box software. Some students have demonstrated how to remix a short piece by adding and editing parts, as well as how to export their files to be saved on hard drives.

Horticulture- Isobel Baynes

During remote learning in Term 3, the year 9/10 Horticulture elective provided students with a variety of engaging and hands-on gardening tasks. Students had the opportunity to grow their own food from kitchen scraps and conduct a real-life soil analysis. They created garden tools and equipment from recycled plastic milk cartons and bug motels from found and foraged materials. Its been great to see students taking the initiative to help out with garden maintenance at home during isolation.

Digital Technology- Jess Mitchell

This term the 9/10 students started the ‘Make it Move’ robotics unit. In the first few onsite sessions, students got to know the Dash-Dot robots and the related apps – ‘Go’, ‘Path’ and ‘Wonder’. They built a LEGO grabber arm and attached it to the robots, using code and the ‘Wonder’ app to control how to open and close it.

It was great fun watching the Dash-dots zoom around, trying to pick up items! During remote learning, students had opportunities to play logic games, create pixel art using the ‘PixilArt’ tool and to learn how to code with CodeMonkey and Kodable. They also developed their Minecraft Education skills, learning how to take photos inside the game, teleport and build Minecraft pixel art and houses. Performing Arts and Drama- Shannon Quinn

This term has seen the Performing Arts students delve into large-scale lo-fi shadow theater, narrative, mime and a variety of performance activities throughout remote learning. We had great fun with whole-body shadow mime charades and learning about light and overhead projectors.

We also explored the artwork, narrative and themes of ‘The Lost Thing’ by Australian artist/writer, Shaun Tan, in preparation for adapting to performance. Remote learning activities included making shadow hand puppets, shadow rod puppets, water glass soundtracks to silent film, home news reporting and tongue twister rapping.

Visual Arts - Vera Mitchell

During Term 3, we went back to remote learning and continued to explore the Visual Art elective program, Textiles. Students were encouraged to engage and share their work via WebEx meetings. We looked at a range of activities and some fantastic work was produced over the term. Thank you to all the students who shared their work and to the parents who supported them.
