TERM 3 SPORT

Welcome Back

Welcome back to Term 3. It doesn’t take long to return back into the swing of things with many sport events lined up for this term. The success of Sydney Catholic Schools Interschool Sport has provided new and developing opportunities for our students which will continue into 2024 and beyond. Our school will enter all sporting events and pathways that are organised and endorsed by SCS and will make efforts to enter external gala days within reason that fit within the schools calendar. It may not always be possible to enter extra gala days due to availability of staff, clashed within the school calendar and keeping and allocating adequate learning time inside the classroom.

NSWPSSA Cross Country

On Friday Sophie A kicked off our first sporting event for Term 3, doing our school very proud at the NSWPSSA Cross Country. Sophie A finished in 13th place, a great result as she ran her best among some very talented Athletes.

School Sport Australia Hockey Championships

We have the very talented Audrey P who will set off to Hobart this weekend to compete in the School Sport Australia Hockey Championships. We are looking forward to receiving some updates from Audrey on her experience as she trains, competes and networks with coaches and athletes from the Hockey fields all around Australia. Good-luck Audrey!

Year 5 Interschool Sport

Year 5 have already commenced interschool sport for Term 3 with having 1 of 3 sessions completed. Year 5 had a sport change from oz-tag to League Tag with the added bonus of having Sharks and St George Game Development Officers assisting SCS with interschool Sport for Term 3. Overall it was a successful afternoon at Barden Ridge Sporting Complex as our Level 1 and 2 teams played in a friendly environment against our network of Catholic schools from Conference 3. Our students behaved exceptionally as we look forward to session 2.

We are grateful to De La Salle College Cronulla and Caringbah for providing 28 secondary students referees. Without their assistance interschool sport would not be possible. We look forward to seeing some of our students referee future games as more referee opportunities are made available to Sydney Catholic Schools Secondary Students.

Interschool Sport Gala Day - Year 3 (compulsory)

The Year 3 SCS Interschool Oz-Tag Gala Day will be held on September 12th, Week 9 of Term 3. There is a possibility this could also be changed to League Tag. In the coming weeks all Year 3 families will receive details and consent via COMPASS.

Conference 3 Athletics Championships

We have 31 students participating in the Conference 3 Athletic Trial held on Wednesday August 9th at Barden Ridge Athletic Track. I will meet with all students the Monday or Tuesday prior to this event to hand out representative uniforms for the students to wear. When students arrive at Barden Ridge Athletics Track, they are to find our school's supervising teacher to have their names marked off.

Students will be provided with a name badge to wear on their shirt for the duration of the day. It is expected for students to be ready at the venue by 7:30am as the first events are marshalled at 7:45am. All results will be posted online this year and when the QR code becomes available I will share this with parents through COMPASS.

Basketball Gala Day Reminders

Our stage 3 girls will be the first to participate in the Sutherland Basketball Gala Day. Our Stage 3 students were very keen to organise their teams to enjoy the upcoming gala day that has been postponed multiple times. Stage 2 parents who registered their child for the gala day will also receive information via COMPASS as we require consent for this event.
