SPBL Awards

Schoolwide Positive Behaviour for Learning

Whole School Awards Assembly

Now that we can gather as a whole school again we will have a short assembly on Monday mornings to start the week together and an Awards Assembly on Friday mornings. At our Monday assembly we will pray, sing the National Anthem and introduce our focus SPBL rule for the week. On Friday we will acknowledge and award our SPBL winners to celebrate the great things that have happened over the course of the week. Parents are welcome to join us on the playground for these assemblies.

From Week 7, there will be a revised and an amended SPBL award system. We will be introducing "Platinum and Titanium" awards. The students will have the opportunity to aspire to reach new levels after their Gold awards and receive a special medallion and trophy! See more details at the end of this section.

I am safe, I am respectful, I am a learner

School-wide Positive Behaviour for Learning (SPBL) is an evidence-based whole school systems approach that provides a framework for our school and our community to promote student safety, wellbeing and learning.

Our three major behaviour expectations - Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be a Learner, are the driving force behind our behaviour matrix. Lessons are explicitly taught in all classes from K-6, educating the students on what these expectations look like.

Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who demonstrate these expectations across all settings of the school are rewarded with a Mercy Card.

SPBL UPDATED News

At Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Primary School we are committed to implementing a School-Wide Positive Behaviour for learning (SPBL) approach to the teaching and management of student behaviour. SPBL approach means that we:

  • use DATA to track progress and identify areas for intervention;
  • use school wide EXPECTATIONS and RULES in specific settings to EXPLICITLY TEACH appropriate behaviour;
  • use a POSITIVE INCENTIVE program to encourage appropriate behaviour and
  • use EFFECTIVE CONSEQUENCES to discourage inappropriate behaviour.

Our school community has identified the following school rules to teach and promote our high standards of responsible behaviour:

 ● Be Safe

 ● Be Respectful

 ● Be a Learner

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Primary School uses a three-tiered approach to facilitating standards of positive behaviour and responding to unacceptable behaviour, through the provision of universal, targeted and intensive supports.
