NEW - Train Like a Vixen

On the 3rd of November, The 3/4s and the 5/6s went to Melbourne for netball training with the Melbourne Vixens trainers. They had to be at school at 7:40am to leave at 8am. They traveled there by bus and were back at school at around half past four. It was an awesome experience for the kids who did and didn’t know how to play. There were 6 rotations. The rotations were defense, ball skills which included passing, 2 different footwork, one where you have to play a game and a shooting one. Thank you so much Miss Brown for organising this event for us.

Last Thursday the Grade 3/4 and 5/6 students went to the Melbourne Vixens Training Centre. We got to meet some coaches, learn new drills and learn how to play a game of netball. The coaches were friendly, nice and kind. We had an excellent time playing netball. Everyone gave everything a go. Our favorite drill was the obstacle course and the defense drills. We were in different groups and rotated around the activities. It was so fun to be playing an amazing sport with our friends. We love netball!

NEW - "Cuppa & Conversation with the SAC"

NEW - Mosquito Information

Mosquitoes can breed in only a tiny amount of stagnant water, meaning their numbers are likely to keep increasing in these weather conditions.

We can reduce the chance of mosquito bites by taking a few simple precautions. One of the most important steps is to empty containers, tanks or gutters around the home that can provide mosquito breeding sites. By simply reducing the number of mosquitoes reproducing around the home and school, you/we can reduce the chances of being bitten.

Other tips to avoid bites include:

- Wearing long, loose-fitting clothing

- Using repellents that contain picaridin or DEET on exposed skin

- Keeping mozzies away with mosquito nets or screens

- Using ‘knockdown’ fly spray, mosquito coils or plug-in repellent, and

- Limiting outdoors activity when mosquito numbers are high.

Children are vulnerable to mosquito bites so it’s important to protect them using the steps outlined above, but remember to use a lower-strength repellent on young children and babies.
