Principal's Message

Prayer for the Nativity of Our Lady

Father of mercy,

give your people help and strength from heaven.

The birth of the Virgin Mary’s Son

was the dawn of our salvation.

May this celebration of her birthday

bring us closer to lasting peace.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Family Mass

Please join us this Sunday for the OLA Family Mass at 9.30am. We hope to see many of our OLA families there to celebrate Our Lady's birthday.

Sensory Program Update

The Sensory Program at OLA is due to commence in Term 4. Ms Mitchell and Mrs La Rosa have been hard at work organising resources and equipment so that the program can get underway. If your child is selected to participate in the program, you will be notified by Friday 14 September. An information session will be held for the families of selected students on Monday 17 September at 3.30pm in the Fr O'Mara Centre (Multi-Purpose Hall).

The Sensory Program will be a vital tool with assisting children, who will benefit from sensory regulation for their body movements, to function well in classroom situations.

The sensory sessions provide a safe and secure environment for students to develop ways of interpreting sensory information and increase their learning capacity.  The group interaction aims to create a team spirit which will increase self-esteem and confidence.  In turn, this will assist students to refine their cognitive, social and emotional, physical and linguistic skill sets.

Sacrament of Penance

This week, Year 3 families  received information regarding the Sacrament of Penance. Families of children receiving the Sacrament are required to return the enrolment form to the Parish Office by Friday 21 September. Candidates will need to attend a Commitment Mass on Saturday 13 October at 6pm or Sunday 14 October at 9.30am. At the conclusion of Mass, children will give Father Ken their signed commitment.

The Retreat Day for students will be held on Thursday 18 October and, that evening, two Parent-Child Workshops will be held. The first session will commence at 4.00pm and the second session will commence at 5.30pm, please indicate which session you would like to attend on the form that was emailed out.

All candidates will receive the Sacrament of Penance on Thursday 25 October at 7.00pm in the OLA Church. Please keep our candidates in your prayers as they prepare for their First Reconciliation.
