Student Voice

Hello Karoo Community,

Claire Moyle and I are the Student Council Leaders at Karoo. We work closely with the students from Years 3-6 to ensure all students feel they have a voice, run and promote fundraisers, and to organise events such as the School Disco. This year we also introduced, ‘Year Level Snippets’. The students have been able to share something exciting happening in their year level at the assemblies. This is a great way to celebrate each year level. As Term 3 rapidly comes to end, we wanted to celebrate all that we’ve achieved so far.

Mark Hughes-Beanies for Brain Cancer Foundation

On the last day of Term 2, students were encouraged to rug up and wear a beanie of their choice to support the Mark Hughes Foundation- Beanies for Brain Cancer. Thank you to all of those who donated to this wonderful cause, we were able to donate $592!

Wonder Recycling Rewards for Schools

Wonder have teamed up with over 1,000 schools to have bread bags redeemed by points in an effort to win new sporting equipment. Thank you to all the Karoo families who have donated empty bread bags over the past few months.  We will be patiently waiting for the results in Term 4.

The Dymocks Library Boost

Book Week was celebrated in Term 3 Week 7, and what a wonderful week it was. We had an author visit by Michael Wagner and on Wednesday we had a wonderful school parade. Again, through the wonderful generosity of our school community we were able to donate to the Dymocks Library Boost which is a wonderful initiative that assists in giving schools in need a ‘Library Boost’.

Our Sponsor Child- Jean Pierre Ikorinesa

At Karoo we have a Sponsor Child whose name is Jean. We have been sponsoring this child for several years and our last day of Term 3 there will be a gold coin donation and CRAZY HAIR DAY. All donations made will be sent to World Vision to support Jean.

Karoo Working Bees

Karoo had one of their most successful Working Bees in Term 3. We had over 60 people here at Karoo assisting with painting, gardening, and general tidying in preparation for our huge 30 Year celebration happening in Term 4. The Student Representatives promoted the Working Bee through posters and in their year level assemblies. Well done to everyone involved.

The School Disco

On the 6th October Karoo will be running their annual School Disco. The Student Representatives have had several meetings to discuss the time, date, theme and overall organisation of the disco. Tickets will be sold in the classroom with the help of the teacher and Student Representative in weeks 9, 10 and the first few days of Term 4.
