Principal's Message

Mr Forrest

Out & About

It has been an excellent start to the 2023 school year with all students and teachers settling into the routine of school.  It was great to participate in the Primary Assembly which was conducted by our student leaders last week and to hear about the efforts of the students MVP Awards .   Well done to the students and coaches with the after school basketball program. It's great to see the smiling faces enjoying the training and games each Wednesday & Thursday.

Learning Conversations Next Week

As per the calendar the first of two Learning Conversations for the year will take place next Thursday.  Mr Gretgrix has made the sign up process live now so please book in on Compass. A reminder that all students will have classes on the day and the Charlton NCTTC bus will also be operating.  Mr Lockhart and Mr Forrest will be taking the students from 1:30 pm  while the teachers are in interviews.

School Council 2023

On Monday evening we had our Annual School Council Meeting.  Our current long serving School Council President Carolyn Stevenson has been re-elected as has our Vice President Deanne Caserta.  We also welcome new student representatives Eliza Turnbull, Pippi Hartnell and teacher representatives Alexander Iser and Carlie Turnbull.   If any parents are interested in joining School Council please feel free to contact me on 54943011.

Pictured above is the architect Chris Peck from AOA Architects who is the lead for our building upgrades work.   Chris spent an hour explaining the current work of the last three months and our project status.  We will progress into a more detailed design stage shortly before moving into a formal building tender process in 4-6 months. The aim is for the project to start construction in 2024. We will keep you informed of the updates as we progress.

Mobile Phones Banned in Victorian Schools

A reminder to all students and families that mobile phones are banned in all Victorian schools.  This ban was introduced several years ago by the Victorian State Government. Unfortunately of late we have had a number of incidents involving phones.   We understand that some students may need phones for after school work commitments etc however, if phones are seen or being used during the day they will be confiscated.  A parent or guardian will then have to attend school to collect the phone.

Easter School Fete Preparation Begins

Once again we will be hosting our annual School Easter Fete on the last day of Term 1, Thursday 6th of April.  All parents, friends and community members are welcome to this event.    The fete will begin at 10.00 am and conclude at 1:30 pm. There will be  a  catered BBQ, baked potatoes followed by activities from each year level. Forms for the BBQ have been sent home, please ensure they are filled and sent to school prior to the day. ly. Each year level is currently organising an activity for the day and once confirmed will be advertised.   It will be a casual clothes day.   If you are able to assist in any way please contact Mr Lockhart or Robyn Vella to book a market site.

Eggnormous Easter Fete Mega Raffle

We are aiming to have an abundance of prizes for our Eggnormous Easter Fete Mega Raffle which will be drawn on the day of the Fete.  If you are able to donate eggs or chocolate, the Parents Association will make up prize bundles so everyone has a great chance to win. Eggs and chocolate donations can be left at the school front office. Raffle tickets have been sent home so please check for these.  Last year the drawing of the raffle topped off the many highlights of the day.   As a special incentive Mr Forrest will run a school day activity for the class who is able to donate the most prizes for the raffle.  When dropping off your donation, please let the Front Office staff know which class you are from. In a very close race the Year 3 class are leading the students with 12 eggs donated followed by Year 5/6 B & Year 9 on 11 and Year 7 on 8. However, currently the staff are winning with 23 donated eggs.  Keep them coming as it certainly looks like being a super Eggnormous Easter mega raffle in 2023.
